Contributions toward a monograph of the sucking lice, Part II, Stanford Univ. Publ. Univ. Ser., Biol. Sci.
Published Taxon Remarks:
For many years, Hoplopleura pacifica Ewing was treated as a synonym of H. oenomydis with the result that many records of Hoplopleura lice collected from domestic Rattus from around the world were incorrectly recorded as H. oenomydis. Johnson (1964, 1972c) Voss (1966) Durden (1990) and others have since verified that these lice represent two distinct species. [ex. Durden, L. A., Musser, G. G. 1994. Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History 218: 1-90]
Taxon Citation Remarks:
Citation information points to the most recent interpretation of the taxon name (not the original, which is absent from the sucking louse checklist).
