Biography: 

Antoine Dugés was a professor at the University of Montpellier, France. He later received his MD degree in Paris in 1852 and emigrated to Mexico City the next year.

His son, Alfredo A. D. Dugés, M.D. (1826-1910) would become “the Father of Mexican Herpetology” (Adler, p. 59).
